History of North Burleigh Surf Life saving club

In 1949, a small group of 23 local residents realised the importance of Surf Life Saving.

They held a public meeting on the 29th November 1949 and formed North Burleigh Surf Life Saving Club. For the first few years, NBSLSC was a pitched tent amongst the sand dunes. In 1952, the construction of the North Burleigh Clubhouse commenced & the club expanded. Interest in Surf Life Saving across the coast peaked; particularly in the 70’s and 80’s where interest in competition was growing.

Today we have over 200 lifesavers, 500 nippers, 1000 life club members, nipper parents and long service members. Our community extends to our Supporters Club with a membership base of over 10,000. North Burleigh was founded by community principals & carries this reputation into the future.

OUR BEACH | OUR PEOPLE | OUR COMMUNITY | OUR FUTURE
